If you’re looking for an adventure, a 6,500 square-foot laser tag facility provides fun for everyone.
The Orléans Craft Beer Festival
This summer, Orléans will host the Orléans Craft Beer Festival at 255 Centrum Boulevard. From June 6, 2019 to June 8, 2019, a rain or shine outdoor festival for grownups will boast a ton of craft beers, tasty wines and great good. Live entertainment makes this beer festival extra special and it’s a great time to catch some local and imported talent. This “old fashioned East end street party” sold out last year so it’s surely going to be popular this year. You can get your presale tickets online now, ranging from $20 for a one day pass and just $35 for a full 3-day festival pass.
Mer Bleu Bog
Mer Bleu Bog is located just a short drive from Orléans and is one of Ottawa’s most special natural hidden gems. This 7,700 year-old bog is a habitat for many rare plants and birds not common to the region. The Mer Bleu Bog is the largest natural area in Ottawa and the second largest bog in southern Ontario. Those who love the outdoors can enjoy 20 kilometres of hiking trail which is frequented by cross-country skiers and snowshoers in the winter months. Getting to Mer Bleu Bog is easy and parking is free year-round. Picnic tables can be found both sheltered and unsheltered and can be located using the Mer Bleu Bog website. The boardwalks are very popular to follow along their 1.2 kilometre path which is a perfect place for bird watching and photography.
Shenkman Arts Centre
A diversity of arts including live performances, exhibits and special events all come together at the creative hub that is the Shenkman Arts Centre. Located at 245 Centrum Boulevard in Orléans, the arts centre consists of 2 theatres, 17 studios and 7 galleries and is “where art comes to life”. The galleries showcase art in a variety of visual media. Eight times a year an event called Meet the Artists takes place at the Shenkman Arts Centre where receptions invite you to meet featured artists and view their ongoing series. Classes and camps are offered to children, teens and adults in both French and English. Over 300 courses can be enjoyed including camps and workshops for all skill levels, all ages and a variety of different art disciplines.
